What we do
We offer complete home based care to over 400 patients a month in Kokstad and the surrounding areas.  Home based care is when a care giver visits a patient in their home and provides holistic care to the patient.

Our home care services are co-ordinated by two professional nurses and supported by a group of trained care workers.

Palliative Care
Our Care Givers visit their patients in their homes and provide holistic care including; Physical care; pain and symptom control; nutritional advice and general physical care; and Psychological and Spiritual Care - of the patient and their family.  We offer our services to patients who have a life-limiting illness, including but not limited to:  cancer, HIV/Aids, TB, diabetes and other advanced life threatening illnesses. Our services are offered free of charge.  TLC is a well-loved and well-respected organisation in the Kokstad Community.

Health Clinic:
Our on-site clinic which is funded by Department of Health sees 1200 patients a month. Its main function is to distribute ARV’s and assist in basic health care.  One Care Giver stays in the clinic each day to see patients for HCT and to identify patients in need.

OVC Programme:
Our OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children) Programme is funded by Department of Social Development.  Two Child Minders cook for and feed almost 60 children daily and assist them with homework.  These children are also monitored for social and emotional problems.

Food Distribution:
TLC receives food and funds for food from various sources.  This food is distributed directly into the field where it’s needed most. Our Nurses and Care Workers see the dire need for food on a daily basis.  We are grateful to be able to alleviate this need when we can.

Education and Training:
In a bid to become more self-sustaining, TLC has begun an Education & Training Centre.  We offer Health related and Palliative Care courses to local organisations and Department of Health members of staff. We also offer First Aid Training to local business.

Support Groups:
In order to offer holistic care and support to our patients and their families, we offer and host various support group programmes.  One of which is I-ACT. Others are a group of Gogos that meet bi-monthly at our Centre.
